Think: “Studs Terkel meets Charlie Rose”, in the body of a tough former boxer. As a young man, Verne held the First Army welterweight title, with the distinction of holding down a chair in the First Army Band at the same time!Verne “Bulldog” Williams comes equipped with a charming wry wit that captures the hearts of his subjects and the attention of his audiences. He’s a warm, intelligent on-mic presence – a “natural” for radio and on-camera broadcast. His own stories are tailor-made for a guest slot on late-night television – Jay Leno and David Letterman take note! Interviews with an empathetic spirit of camaraderie are Verne’s specialty. A true renaissance man, Verne “Bulldog” Williams farmed organic vegetables on a large scale, and has raised Yorkshire pure bred hogs, Suffolk sheep, game chickens and Holstein cattle. He has been a hoof trimmer by trade, tending the hoofs of thousands of dairy cows for health and show from Vermont to Virginia, and even in Saudi Arabia, where he worked for the Royal Family as a consultant. A role in Motown's film: "The Last Dragon" as Cujo the Mad Dog, first brought Verne “Bulldog” Williams' larger-than-life personality to the big screen. This was followed by media coverage, with Verne's photo in New York Magazine, being cartooned by Stan Mack in the Village Voice, and with a resultant article in People Magazine. He has also worked with director Woody Allen, and, while represented by the William Morris Agency, became a familiar voice on TV & radio commercials. Verne “Bulldog” Williams currently serves as the Western Boxing Master at the Wu Tang Physical Culture Association in the Lower East Side in NYC. ------- |
